Note: the idea of this directory is to provide a means for individuals to network and find others, usually in their area, who they might get together with to enjoy Old-Time Music. It is not intended as a means of advertising, promoting, or even listing bands. So, if you're in a band, please include that information in "Other Info" along with your website, myspace page, etc. but please don't submit a listing for the band itself. Thanks for your cooperation.

I've been playing the banjo for a good while, though I've played many instruments before it, and I still have a soft spot for the button box.

I've picked up a good number of regional picking styles, but I'm not one to split hairs--I am more interested in making music than I am in recreating a particular personality, place, or style. I generally always use picks on my Mastertone-style banjo, but none on my fretless. I like music with fire, but could do without machine-gun antics. Doc Watson is a favorite picker of mine, as are Sam McGee and Uncle Dave. I write many of my own arrangements and try to keep things fresh with a fair bit of improvisation.

I work a vegetable farm in a very rural area of southern Huntingdon County, and my work week is rather long, but there are not many other players around here and I'd not mind traveling a bit to get together. Our weekend markets are in Washington, DC, so I have easy access to the metro area Saturdays and Sundays.

As a native of the Galax, Virginia area, I grew up hearing old time and bluegrass music, and I started attending fiddlers' conventions in the mid 1960's. I've played and recorded with Whit Sizemore, Kyle Creed, Rafe Brady, Enoch Rutherford, Alice Gerrard, Greg Hooven & the New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters, and most recently with the Wolfe Bros. String Band. Check out our website at: www.geocities.com/wolfebrothers
